Lilies for Lilith is a Classic EGL brand with a focus on quality materials and craftsmanship, hoping to bring others a little extra spark of joy through elegant accessories.

I named my brand “Lilies for Lilith” due to many different reasons. My given name (萱) is an orange day-lily native to Asia. My mother told me she named me after this flower because it’s hardy, fragrant, and practical (the flowers, leaves, and tubers are edible), in addition to being beautiful. When I think of lilies I also think of Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII, the first Final Fantasy I ever played. The Final Fantasy series was a huge part of my teenage and early adult years and still holds a lot of meaning for me. As for “Lilith,” the name carries a strong association with third-wave feminism in my mind due to “Lilith Fair.” I’m totally dating myself with this discussion, but in the 1990s the music industry was heavily male-dominated, and believe it or not, many radio stations wouldn’t even play two female artists back-to-back. Sarah McLachlan (to this day one of my favorite female artists!) founded Lilith Fair, a traveling music festival featuring exclusively female solo artists and women-led bands. Lilith Fair completely shattered the music industry’s belief that women couldn’t draw big crowds and had a significant positive impact on female artists that came afterwards. In addition, I love the (non-canonical) representation of Lilith as the rebellious first wife of Adam in medieval Jewish folklore. In the story, Lilith was made equal to Adam (not of his “rib” or “side”) and refused to be subservient to him. I wanted the name for my brand to represent both who I am and some of the things that really resonate with me.
